Clinician: ALAN BAYLOCK

ALAN BAYLOCK is one of the finest writers on the jazz scene today. Baylock currently holds the position of Chief Arranger for the renowned "Airmen of Note" jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force Band in Washington D.C. In addition, he is in demand as a freelance composer, arranger, producer, instrumentalist, clinician, and adjudicator, and is the leader of the Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra.

Artists who perform his music include jazz greats Freddie Hubbard, Maynard Ferguson, Michael Brecker, Nicholas Payton, Jimmy Heath, Eddie Daniels, Paquito D'Rivera, Frank Wess, James Moody, David Liebman, Randy Brecker, Kenny Werner, Mike Mainieri, Jerry Bergonzi, Bobby Shew, Nnenna Freelon, Tierney Sutton, Vanessa Rubin, Kevin Mahogany; country music legends Roy Clark and Wynonna; pop stars Chaka Khan, Kenny Rankin, Spyro Gyra; and symphony orchestras throughout the country.

The Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra's debut recording Two Seconds to Midnight was released in October 2003 on Seabreeze Records. After receiving international critical acclaim, the CD spent eight weeks on the JazzWeek national jazz radio top 40 chart. More of Baylock's music can be found on recordings by the David Liebman Big Band, Maynard Ferguson and Big Bop Nouveau, the Ultraphonic Jazz Orchestra, the Airmen of Note, and on numerous other professional and collegiate albums, including releases by the University of North Texas One O' Clock Lab Band and the University of Miami Concert Jazz Band. His music is published by Warner Bros., UNC Jazz Press, and Walrus Music.
