"DRESSES FOR NOLA" PROJECT We
have just added a new dimension to our "Hey NOLA, We didn't forget
you!" project. Our new goal is to locate and deliver at least 200 prom dresses during Spring Break
to the young ladies in high schools in or near New Orleans so they can feel
normal again!
(We will also accept tuxes.) We
will be delivering these dresses to an organization called BECCA'S CLOSET.
Becca's
Closet was created as a legacy to Rebecca Kirtman and the project she
started. Becca's Closet provides formal attire to high school students who
otherwise would not be able to attend their prom/homecoming.
Our mission is
to continue her vision and dream of helping others.
In Becca's memory,
scholarships are awarded to deserving high school students to advance their
education.

We
will be accepting used, clean prom dresses or tuxes on the following
Fridays during the Advisory Period (8:10 - 8:30 a.m.) AND between noon and 1
p.m. at the New Trier HS Winnetka Campus in the lobby of Gaffney Auditorium. Friday
drop-offs will be:
February 1, 8, and 15
March 7 and 14 There
will be a contest in advisory with a winner for each class to which advisory
brings in the most dresses. The prize is a "New Orleans-Style Breakfast
complete with live Dixieland jazz music" AND free tickets to all
students and their parents to be recognized at the Spring Jazz Concert
on April 10. If
